Notice
You can now safely install the paf.exe files from this site without affecting your MPP User Profiles.
For right now you should avoid using /mppudate or the MPP Upgrade tool... while they are safe to install, it is not recommended because MPP will download and install a patch EXE file that will make your originally small portable installation much larger, possibly doubling the size of the installation folder.
I am working on resolving this issue over the next few releases. It should be ready in time for the official RC13.
Stand Alone Installation
I strongly recommend extracting MPP Portable to your hard drive and doing the initial MPP Portable setup (mpp.exe) on your hard drive and once that is all done, copying the mIRCPowerPackPortable folder over to your portable device. Installing and configuring MPP directly to a portable device can take 10+ minutes.
Download mpp-800-portable.paf.exe.
Double click mpp-800-portable.paf.exe to extract the mIRCPowerPackPortable folder.
Power Users: You can copy your real MPP User Profile from your mIRC Power Pack Profiles folder into the new mIRCPowerPackPortable folder. During the initial setup (MPP Control Center) you will only need to make a slight temporary change to your information to get the SAVE button to work. If none of this makes sense to you, you are not a power user, so ignore this part.
Inside the new folder, double click on MPP.EXE.
Setup MPP as you normally would.
Test it, make sure it all works.
Once everything is working copy the mIRCPowerPackPortable folder to your portable
device.
IT WILL NOT BE "FAST" BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.
PortableApp Installation
I strongly recommend installing PortableApps to your hard drive and doing the initial MPP Portable installation and setup on your hard drive and once that is all done, copying the mIRCPowerPackPortable folder over to your portable device. Installing and configuring MPP directly to a portable device can take 10+ minutes.
Download mpp-800-portable.paf.exe.
Run StartPortableApps.exe.
Click Options -> Install New App.
Browse to the folder containing mpp-800-portable.paf.exe.
Double click the mpp-800-portable.paf.exe file.
After "installation"...
On the PortableApps Menu click mIRC Power Pack Portable.
Setup MPP as you normally would.
Test it, make sure it all works.
Once everything is working copy the mIRCPowerPackPortable folder to your portable device's PortableApps folder.
Run the PORTABLE version of the PortableApps menu and make sure MPP works right.
IT WILL NOT BE "FAST" BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.
Installing PortableApps Suite
PortableApps Suite 1.0
I am using the base edition and I installed mine to c:\portable. I always install apps to c:\portable and use that for configuring my apps, then I copy them to my memory stick later.

PortableApps Menu 1.0.2 Beta 2
This is optional, but a good idea. It is not needed for MPP Portable.
In PortableApps Suite 1.0, when you clicked an item on the Start Menu, it did NOT change into the working directory of the EXE that was being executed.
In PortableApps Suite 1.0.2 Beta 2, this was fixed. It was broken again later in Beta 3, so don't go looking for a newer version.
MPP Portable doesn't need this fix, I manually rebuilt MPP.EXE to compensate for this problem.
XP Admin DOES require this fixed "Beta 2" version, or (supposedly in a few days) the "FINAL" version of 1.0.2. But we aren't here to talk about XP Admin.
I am using 1.0.2 Beta. Mileage may vary.

Place this file in your X:\PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu directory (replacing the existing one).
Notes
* $dll: unable to open 'mIRCPowerPackPortable\system\systeminfo\moo.dll' (line 1134, SystemInfo.mrc)
this error is normal if mpp-subsytem is not installed. moo.dll has always been
detected by most virus scanners as harmful.
